rumors of my blog's demise ...

So, as you may have noticed, I haven't updated in nearly three months. I'm sure I could come up with a variety of justifications but the simple truth is I haven't felt like it; I've done my posting elsewhere and it's satisfied me.

Never the less, it strikes me that it is occasionally useful to have a public face, as it were, and since blogs have long since replaced the need for personal websites, I might as well dust this one off every so often. It lacks the personality of a journal, but it serves admirably for other things.

On the topic of those other things, I have recently begun submitting some of my smaller writings to various flash fiction venues, and while I certainly am not so foolish as to expect any immediate success in this venture, I may occasionally have related news, and this outlet will work as well as any.

On a related front, two of my pictures from the xkcd meetup mentioned in my last post - which, for those of you who don't travel in webcomic circles, was a huge success - have been "published" out there on the web. One of the shots of the jungle gym was used for the Schmap Portland Guide (4th Ed), and a shot of the Flying Ferret has been used in the documentation of the #xkcd bot of the same name. This raises the total number of my Flickr photos used in someone else's publications to three, which I can't say I find terribly upsetting.

So I suppose all I'm really saying is 'watch this space', which I've no doubt fills you with chills of suspense. Carry on, then.
